The aim for this program is to convert existing lamps to long life LED’s with smart controls and requires new lighting infrastructure to be installed. The benefits of this technology have been clear in reducing energy consumption and improving street light management through:
- Replacing traditional night patrols with diagnostics web based day time inspections – saving money and time
- Control over lighting levels – increasing efficiency in the network
- Automated alerts and reports for better management response.
Over two successful rounds, UAM have retrofitted 128 Metal Halide luminaires with energy efficient LED luminaires. These projects have included installing control system access points and connecting each new light fitting with a Radio Frequency (RF) control node. These nodes operate in place of a traditional Photo-Electric (PE) Cell and communicate with the server through a Wireless Access Point (WAP). As part of the maintenance UAM also monitor and management the RF network and respond to any faults. We also maintain approximately 600 lights in Ryde’s private streetlight network.
